Hello I will be attending UND in this fall, as I am taking cutural anthropology at my local JC. I will also be there next week for registration/ gettign started week. I have done poorly in math this last sem in high school in trig/pre-calc, Im much capable of the grade I got but anyways I know at UND the lowest math is College algbera, would the next level be Finite mathematics and applied calc???? I know the minimum to graduate is Applied calc for a degree in AV mgmnt? if so please post any comments or the correct math order from college algebra? -thanks

You will be taking a math placement test at the Getting Started program, and they will tell you which math class you have to take.

DO NOT, I--R-E-P-E-A-T, DO NOT, take a Math course at UND if you have historically not done so well in Math. I struggled to get B's in Math for my college math courses and when I came to UND I got a BIG FAT D in the Calculus course. Now I have to retake it out at the airbase eventually to get that D taken out of my GPA. Everyone who I've talked to who failed Math at UND took it out at the airbase where there's a community college - they said they all got A's and the tests are take-home.

I took College Algebra at UND and got a C. I took Applied Calculus at the Air Base and got a B. Depending on teacher, some of the tests at the base are take home, but they are usually harder than the in-class quizzes and the final exam.

When I took Applied Calc the teacher was pretty fair. She let us work with a partner for each quiz and she must of had a huge grading curve because I had a C going into the final and ended up with an A in the class.

[/ QUOTE ] Are you by any chance referring to Rerrick? (I think that's her name) She let us sit w/ partners, for open book quizzes. Easy A. |

Yeah, that name sounds right. She seems tough at first, but turns out that she is very forgiving on grades.

If you're doing the aviation management degree. You have to take finite mathmatics anyway. Of which, I've tried to get into two semesters in a row, but it wasnt offered. Makes sense right? Im wondering if they just got rid of the class and havent updated the sylabus. I totally bombed the place ment test for math and am stuck taking algebra if I cant get finite math.
