somehow i doubt that if the french looking candidate john f kerry had won you'd be referring to the Commander in Chief in such a derogatorry manner. Show some respect for the Office even if you don't like the man.

From AOPA:[ QUOTE ] FAA to shut down Washington, D.C., airspace for State of the Union speech The FAA has declared the airspace over Washington, D.C., off-limits to VFR general aviation traffic for President Bush's State of the Union address on Wednesday, February 2. Like the inauguration, it has been designated a national security event, and penalties for incursions will be severe. The FAA has issued a notam along with a flight advisory that closes the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) to VFR traffic between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday. In addition, notams are suspended regarding pattern work and ingress/egress procedures at airports within the ADIZ and flight restricted zone (FRZ). The only exception is for IFR aircraft landing or departing Washington Dulles International (IAD) and Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) airports. Those aircraft have to remain on active IFR flight plans while operating within the ADIZ/FRZ. [/ QUOTE ] ...and from the NBAA:[ QUOTE ] Special Operating Guidelines in Effect This Week for Super Bowl A Special Traffic Management Program (STMP) will be in effect for Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, FL, from Wednesday, February 2 through Monday, February 7. Reservations will be required at 13 Jacksonville-area airports. In addition, a security TFR is in place around Alltel Stadium, prohibiting general aviation traffic at Craig Municipal (CRG) and Herlong Municipal (HEG) airports from 1:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Sunday evening. NBAA encourages operators to check NOTAMs and with local flight service facilities in case there are any last-minute changes on Super Bowl travel days. Operators should file early, and capable aircraft traveling along the Northeast to and from Florida should utilize off-shore radar routes. Be aware that tactical reroutes may be initiated and plan for extra fuel for such a scenario, as well as other possible departure or holding delays. For more information, contact the NBAA GA Desk at gadesk@nbaa.org or visit: http://web.nbaa.org/public/ops/airspace/2005/superbowl Expected TFRs for Upcoming VIP Travel In addition to temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) in Washington, DC, on February 2 for the State of the Union Address and in Jacksonville, FL, on February 6 for the Super Bowl, operators should anticipate TFRs for VIP travel this week for Fargo, ND, and Great Falls, MT, on February 3; Omaha, NE, on February 3 and 4; and Little Rock, AR, and Tampa, FL, on February 4. Since TFRs are announced shortly before they go into effect, Members must continue to use all resources to prevent flying into restricted airspace. Operators are urged to review NOTAMs carefully prior to every flight. For more information, visit: http://www.nbaa.org/airspace/restrictions [/ QUOTE ] [off-topic] Icelandair, just a little reminder: I believe that the webmaster asked everyone to remove their political banner signatures shortly after the election ended. No sense waisting bandwidth on graphics that are irrelevant to an aviaiton website, eh? ![]() [/off-topic] O.K., back to the TFRs. |
