Default Greetings from Grand Forks

Well, I made it here. The 2,000 mile trek from San Diego, CA to Grand Forks, ND went very well. Driving a full Budget truck with my car towed behind it was a b*tch though. I just kept the pedal floored so that it'd maintain 75 MPH through those long and boring stretches into east Montana and North Dakota. Man, that I-94 is bare! There's nothing out there for miles.

I moved here without having been to GF prior. I am lucky that I like the town and school. The aviation facilities at UND are really nice. I can't wait 'til my classes start.

If you want a tour today of anything I'd be glad to help you out. Did you decide where you are living for the semester? Glad to have more people here, ttyl

Right on. I'm starting my 1700 mile trek tomorrow with all my crap stuffed in the trunk of my car. Should be there in the next few days. I'm guessing you're living off campus? I'm in Walsh. Anyone have anything to say about this dorm?

I got back on Sunday. Got hired as a CFI here on Tuesday, and finished up the standz ride yesterday.

I can't believe I'll get paid to do this stuff. It's great!

Thanks Lucas... I sorta would like a tour... are you free on Monday??? I think everything's closed by now. So I did decide to live at Legacy Apts...since Warehouse and Freighthouse Apartments have a 2.5 year waiting list. I couldn't find any other apartment complex that was decent enough for the price. If I don't like Legacy I'll just discontinue the lease in 1 year.

Howdy fellow UND JCers. I too am driving back to Grand Forks (from Alaska) currently someplace in the middle of nowhere BC, Canada. 1200 miles down, about 1800 more to go! I also will live in Legacy apts, in the building with underground parking.

Awesome... now the new building with underground parking, is that one with all the one-bedrooms??? I'm in the 2600 building in a two-bed/two-bath and we don't have underground parking. It has a 2-car garage, which is nice...but hopefully it won't be to hard on the car in the cold 40-below mornings.

Anybody in mcvey. I'm in one of those "special" suites with airconditioning.

I'm actually bored out of my mind right now. Probly going to have to go outside and make some noise or destroy something.

it woulda been a good day to try some of the 'required' crosswind landings.

i hope everyone is looking forward to flying courses in the fall. UND's made a LOT of changes for the upcoming semester. the quality of training should be significantly better after we work out all the kinks getting people transferred from old editions of TCOs to the new ones, etc..

lucas, if you're watching this thread, have you called your students yet? only one of mine has a number on crewlink but the other i found via stalkernet (student directory). i went and got my black tie and black pants today.....damn clothes are gonna offset the first paycheck

yeah I still miss home. I didnt get to go home this time becasue I didnt get assigned a stage pilot soon enough. The one that I have right now is taking her sweet time to do everything. I cannot wait to get this done. One flight away...

No more aviation courses for you I guess. Congrats on getting hired!
