Is not the place to be if you can't put up with the myriad of restrictions and other miscellaneous crap that is associated with flying that makes you want to set yourself on fire. One if the guys on this forum that currently attends UND with me told me that I didn't know what I was missing from flying out of an FBO and not having to deal with the back and forth transmissions 'cause the Chinese guys can't understand anything 'cause they choose not to speak English and improve on it when they're with their friends. Oh, don't forget about all the restrictions like not being able to fly when the weather is fine for flying. If there is a line of rain moving in, *poof* no fly... stuff like that. Slight rambling on, but whatever. Blah blah blah, blah blah, blah bleh and blah. Don't go to UND. I didn't listen and thought, "Oh, what the hell do you know? I can handle it." Well, I can, but it comes with a mighty price... say $150,000 or so by the time I'm finished if I stay here for four years. Not worth it. I've been thinking about leaving, and I just might do that. Hmm... don't know what else to say right now, it's been a long day, so I'll just leave it at that. UND = part 141 school = bad. Pay as you go, fly on the side, get a useful degree, something like that. That's all I've got. Don't care what is said, that's the truth. |

I'd really like to take this opportunity to thank our resident emu. A few years ago Joe talked me out of UND, and I'm glad he did. He advised me "Go to school somewhere that doesn't suck and fly on your own time." I'm so glad I did that. Otherwise I'd be in North Dakota right now. Cheers buddy. |

Heh, I just thought of all the things I've said in the past about how UND would be great and how I would take into consideration of what was said about how bad UND is, but I won't do what people said. I had to be one of the most die-hard, pro-UND guys when I was talking to the anti-UND people. Now, I'm pretty anti-UND, myself. And that's saying something. I just wish I could've had the chance to talk to someone in person about the negatives of doing the part 141 thing, instead of hearing it from strangers on a public forum. |

One day they went no dispatch because of a thunderstorm 40 miles away and it was only 15 miles wide . It would have taken at least an hour and a half before it got within range. I could have done some stop and goes in that time period. BS. P.s, back when und had the bendix seminoles, I overheard a china kid cancelled the flight on a nice vfr day because it had those avionics on board. It was the only plane available at that moment for his launch. Mostly because it had no moving map and pink line. I cant wait for the day when they are back at home flying 737s or whatever it is, have a complete failure and have to use the eyeball. that will make headlines. |

Everyone who replies in this thread must write "I hate UND" at the end. Thank you.

| Old Skool | Not "who," but "what." It's called ground lessons (part of the TCO, not ground school). See, you can skip flights to do a ground lesson, but not the other way around. My next lesson is a ground briefing, so I cannot do the flight lessons that come after that briefing without doing the briefing, first.

Nah, you guys are missing the point. This thread was not started for complaining, it was started to try to sway others who are as stubborn as I am from going to UND. Just trying to get the word out. That's it.

coa787, I think your problem is you party too hard and don't study enough. Seriously you think you can party till 4 am every night and ditch class everyday?

Looking at the screen in dispatch today which said "IFR Dual Only", with scattered clouds, made me laugh. Oh, and I HATE doing the "clear left, clear right" BS in a C172, not to mention the "to the line/below the line" crap. I'm surprised there's not an "APU........not installed" item on the checklist. I guess it's kinda pointless to even have this thread because there will be things at every university that people don't like. Even before I went to college, I've been split on whether or not I should go this route... and still am. Had I known some of those things, maybe I would've made what I thought was a better choice. Being at UND is tolerable for me, but it isn't for others so maybe I could help them change their mind. No point in going there if you know you're gonna absolutely hate it and could not stay there for even another day for the things that I said in my original post, but maybe you didn't already know about those things. Now that you know, it could only help you make a choice that you think will be better for you in the long run. Last edited by coa787; September 11th, 2009 at 21:42. | |
