| I assume you work for a regional. How many hrs did you have when you got hired? I dont think there are too many regionals hiring with 300/25 and 50 dual given. Those days may be over. If the SAMA career fairs are really the only opporunity to network into the industry, why not go dressed up in your best to impress? And if you were offered to fly a jet, would you turn it down for a prop? Just asking.

I'm no pilot nor do I know much about the hiring industry, but these days we must remind ourselves that it's nice to have a pay check every two weeks and doing something we love. There's alot of people out there sitting in the unemployment office right now that wishes they could say that. My two cents.....

See this is why all of you who are Instructors here at UND need to read the flight operations meeting minutes. We are selling the mustang, asap, to buy another king air. The charters that have been going prefer the king air and air china would like another one to be on the ramp.

Jet or prop, who cares. I would gladly step down (according to you) to a prop (TBM, PC12, Comanche, Seneca, etc) for a boost in QOL and pay. There were a lot of really low time guys that got hired with that kind of time. I flew with a lot of them. There was one individual that had 275 hours total after completing IOE!

| I had 270.2 hours after IOE on the Dash 8... it was definitely a big challenge for me. Those days of hiring with a wet ticket are over.

well it looks like i turned this into a nice pissing match. The thing i think is funny about the SAMA conference is the people that go to represent each company. I remember some airline that was represented with cocky line pilots and had hoards of eager students wearing black suits and white shirts surrounding the booth. I'm assuming it was Horizon because everyone at UND seemed to have a hard-on for Horizon. Wish i had a picture. That is how i sum up the conference. I know it is a nice conference with great speakers.

| Senior Member | I apologize. I confused your post with another in this thread. My response was not intended to harp or be preachy. Again, I apologize.

TBM/PC-12/KA/Conquest is where it's at. Turbine equipment = higher pay and easier to fly. Unfortunately, I think almost every pilot's dream is to fly one of those aircraft for $80k, no RONs, and only weekdays. That makes it tough to find such a job. The only thing we can do is keep looking.

The point i really wanted to get out was how funny some of the company representatives were a few years ago. Hoards or students scratching away to get the same job they have and they get a nice ego boost. The funny part is some of the reps were in the same position a few years prior. | |
