For those of you that are in OKC or for those of you who know the answer to my question, would love to hear your input. How is the internet speed at the majority of housing providers.....I will be needing to video conference with the family every night....and don't want sorry aced internet speeds. I know its complimentary Wifi at most places so I'm not bitchin......Is it worth it to buy a PCI internet card from Verizon and have good speeds there or will the WiFi at the places hold up to a video conference on a netbook? Thanks for your input guys......Housing providers, feel free to respond....just be mindful that your input isn't biased. UTAMAV

I live at the Mansions South, and the internet here is awesome. Their connection here is a 10 Megabit one, which means you can download at about 1 Megabyte a second. The downside is that you only have a jack in the wall, so if you want WiFi, you'll need to bring your own wireless router. The one downside is that it goes down every now and then. It went down last night, and still hasn't come back up. I'm only able to post this because I enabled tethering on my iPhone, so I can piggyback on it's 3G connection. A 3G broadband card, no matter who it's from, will probably not give you enough bandwidth to do video conferencing. From my understanding, 3G speeds are around 1 Megabit per second. That's my experience, anyways. Hopefully some others will get on and let you know how theirs is. | |
