Have you ever turned down a trip trade/swap that would be highly beneficial, but changed your mind once you discovered who you would be working with?

Yes. I have also initiated them because of another crewmember. Funny thing though, those only work when swapping with open time and not another crewmember.

There are a few that I refuse to fly with...you can only put up with so much before you wash your hands of certain crew members and just avoid flying with them at all cost.

Not yet. But our schedules hardly allow for drops or swaps...
I could see myself turning down a longer trip, or if I worked for an airline that had long flights. We got it good though, don't like talking to the guy you're sitting next to? Don't worry, you've only got an hour before you can hop out and bs with the ramp guys. Nbd.

Sometimes I wish that they would drag all of the people on the various 'no-fly' lists into the office for a little carpet dance:

"You know 'Mr. X', we aren't going to fire the 2000 first officers that won't fly with you, so maybe you should consider a small attitude change."

Although, more than not, I get along with people that are on everyone's no-fly list. (except for a few rotten apples that just don't play well with others)

I fly standups all the time now, and the standup crews at our airline are like our own little airline within an airline. We pretty much all know each other and get along great. So I don't really have those problems. But when I was flying regular trips, there were definitely a handful of names that I would avoid in open time or even straight up drop a trip if I was stuck with them. A few hundred bucks ain't worth four days of misery.

I've had swaps turned down after they found out who was flying it with me. You begin to learn who people don't want to fly with, so you sugar coat the pairing if you know you're gonna have to really sell the trade.

Denied due to lack of reserve crewmembers. Story of our lives.

    Meanwhile, I'm on reserve.

I think scheduling has this as a pre-programed response to swaps/drops.

No I meant that crew scheduling has no system to allow us to do it...

Doesn't happen very often but every once in a while in open time I see a decent trip and when I pull up the Capt your exact words come to mind "oh HELL naw!" Last time that happened was when I saw a guy I had unfortunately flew with on reserve. During his briefs he states he wants to be THE most standard pilot at ASA. Notorious among FOs at ASA. Small examples, sits on his hands during taxi and asks you to reach over and select the legs page while you're running the Bfore T/O check. At EVERY out station calls the gate agent into the cockpit to let them know he's an FFDO.

FOs selecting the legs page during the Before Takeoff check is a normal every leg thing at 9E.

Yeah, I do that too. The whole purpose of me doing 99% of the stuff during the taxi is so that he can concentrate and drive.
