There is one thing about Brasil that is going to be hard to swallow if I do end up down there...

Their Cars suck BIG TIME!!! they are all slow and made out of plastic complete garbage!!! If you want a real car be prepared to pay 2X as much as in the US!! be prepared to pay $50,000 for a Honda Civic!!!

The driving is relatively slow but people's complete lack of regard for traffic rules makes it very exciting.:insane:

    Wow, thanks a bunch!

Considering all the trouble I went through in Brazil just to get my CPF, this is probably gonna be a very stressful process. hehe

I agree, all the new cars suck! This is why I drive a 1989 VW Gol, can't stand the new cars...I would rather drive a fusca

    An Audi A4 is R$ 148k, for the 4 cylinder 2 L engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know, my CPF, after I did all the steps, never got in the mail, it was canceled because I don t have a voters card, and I'm not even Brazilian, but they told me that I shouldn't have done the Brazilian application, so they made me do the one for estrangeros, which ended up to be the same thing!!

Swisspilot how is your QOL over there. Overall are u liking it?

It seems in america we take a lot of our luxuries for granted is it a big change over there?

From my personal research to be able to have the life I have now It would take a lot of sacrifices in Brasil.

Yeah it's a big Jump from America. I was lucky to move here with my gf, she is from Rio, her family is petty well off, her dad and Mom live in Paris, they don't really like it anymore here, they grew up in Rio, and things have changed a lot since they first left (they lived a bit everywhere). They come to Brazil a lot but just for vacation, but as far as aviation goes, things are going well here.

    Hey,

    I'm new here, hello!

Really good topic - full of useful information. I would also like to live/work in Brasil, although I have a UK JAA licence to convert rather than FAA.

swisspilot - please check your pm's.

    Tripulantes is the crew

there is no such thing as Oral in Brasil, the briefing is done in front of the plane, and most likely the ck pilot dosen´t even know the plane. You don´t have to do anything just fly, some guys even handle the radios for you.....

I have all the questions for the Air Law test (pirated), I´m gonna scan them and send them to you...

Don´t get to scary about the rules, here, most of them are not really used becuause they don´t make any sense.

Don't mean to bother you again, but mind sending me a copy too?

Thanks once again for all the info (here and via PM). This sort of info is very hard to come by through other means (at least from what I've experienced).

As far as I know there is no twin in BH http://www.aeroclubeminas.com.br

You have to go to Juiz de Fora, it will take you months to get done, but they have a twin for a good price...

how hard is it to convert FAA certificates to Brazilian certificates?

But more importantly, as a Brazilian citizen with family in Sao Paulo, how likely is it that I can be based in either Guarulhos or Congonhas?

Can the hours be used here say if you work there a while and then come back?

what's the pay like compared to the US?
and one last question: How hard is it to get hired? What are the mins?

80% of the Brazilian aviation is out of SP: Guarulhos, Congonhas, Campinas, Ribeirao Preto and Campo de Marte....unfortunately C :

    Small regionals FO is 500TT
    Second Officer is 200TT

Bigger companies like TAM and Gol FO is 1000-1500TT

Getting the license based on an FAA one, it`s long and painful but can be done....TRY TO READ THE REST OF THE THREAD

You can use all the hours in the US...

The best part is that I can use the hours in the US. thanks! I'll read up on the thread. I skipped a few pages. haha

Is it very much like it is here also that if you know someone you'll get in? Because I know 3 captains over at TAM and that would make things a lot easier.
