I could almost believe that, but not quite. If he spent a lot of time doing one way ferry flights or something, i could see it. I've gotten stopped with a pocket knife more than once because of those types of situations, but i never saw the need to "pack in my pack."

I always carry a gun in my plane. If I ever had to land somewhere remote it would be helpful for hunting or defense against animals.

As a gun owner and advocate I can always tell you where my firearms are at down to the square inch..Forgot it was in his bag? I seriously doubt it. This is all we needed at PDT right now...

The bag apparently did not pass through X-ray screening Wednesday in Charlottesville, Va., where he piloted a flight to LaGuardia.

True. If he "forgot" where his weapon is at then he's not responsible enough to have one. Where is he going to "forget" it next?

It wouldn't be the first time that a pilot had forgotten that a gun was in his overnight bag. It's happened several times, in fact. Typically it's after a pilot has gone on a hunting trip or something similar, he used his overnight bag for his personal travels, and then forgot that a firearm had been left in a side pocket. I doubt this guy was intentionally carrying around a gun on a trip.

Not exactly the same thing as an airline pilot carrying a gun in his bag through a large airport.

I agree, I always know where my guns are at all times. I just hate it was a pilot AND he went through ops on his first day. Now that privilege will be taken away from us.

I hope it was an honest mistake but who knows. Bummer though, as most of you have already stated, going through ops and KCM..... Damn

The way this city is going it should be a requirement for all overnighters to pack some heat.

I could care less. Clearly it wasn't actually a problem. What's he going to do with a gun he can't do with his two index fingers?
