But its so much sexier when it is in CAL paint and passing one in USAir paint! I know the 100's are underpowered but even out 300's are faster, what gives?

-300 has the same engine as the -200. Silly Canadians actually built the -300 then said AHHA. EH And put the -300 engines on the -100 frame.

Almost the same... ANyway, that still doesn't explain why PDT's aircraft are so freakin' slow. I can pull 20 to 30 knots on you guys any day of the week.

Just remember when you block out 10 minutes early, to fly at 100% power. Fifty percent torque aside. :) Definitely glad the Dash 8 is my first 121 plane.

My thoughts are why do you care how fast anyone other than the plane you're operating is flying? Seriously, who cares. Now that you have the contract you don't like, you're paid block or better. So, their slowness is good for your bank account.

Kind of an ass hole response man, I was legitimately wondering why there would be a speed difference on the same airframe.

    Maybe the power settings?

In the Saab we have the GE Power by the hour agreement. When I was first hired 850C was the temp limit, now it's 840C. I'm betting some Saab operators says full torque as long as you are in the green on temperature. I've also flown some aircraft that have amazingly cool engines, you can wind them up until you hit the barber poll, but then some aircraft have crap engines.

That's interesting, I never thought about that being a possibility. Thanks for the input! I know that in our aircraft, though most of us seldom do unless its the last day, we can push it to the limits so maybe that is the case.

I wouldnt post that man. You never know who sees these things. If you are admitting that you intentionally fly slow then you could see yourself in the CP office with a rep discussing future employment for stealing. I have gone to two such meetings for things like this.

Just to clarify, I was the rep.

We had 10 Captains at my airline get into this sort of hot water for "stealing from the company". They were told "you can quit, be fired or have 90 days off with no pay and a letter in your file".

Funny thing is, my airline made the EFB's the primary way of generating OUT/IN times (which it does after the aircraft moves 50 ft for an OUT time, and any main door open for IN) with poorly designed software...they did this for 6 months before a "fix" came about...yet, we're the ones "stealing".

It always amazes me the ways that airlines (including tiny ones like the one I work for) can massively over complicate retardedly simple stuff like this. We just went through redoing the way our flight and duty tracking works and now it's a freakin nightmare. Like really guys? We can't just punch our in/out times, duty on/duty off, and tail number into a computer and have it spit out results for our 8 in 24, required rest, and currency?
