Just wanted to through out a huge "Thank You" to many people on here that have helped me in one way or another on making my recent move up the food chain. There is one main reason I have this new job and it's due to NETWORKING. Meeting people, helping people, being an active participant in my own (and other's) career progression have positioned me to get hired at a carrier that sells it's own seats. I was prepared when the opportunity presented itself and it paid off. I do believe there's another thread about career preparedness.....this is no joke people, heed the advice within.

If you show up to work, do your job, and go home without ever thinking or doing anything extra, there is a good chance that's what you'll be doing for the remainder of your career, right where you are now. However, if you grab your career by the reigns and make the extra effort, good things should come your way! A little luck also helps, which I've had my share of as well.

So a huge thanks to all of you who have helped me along the way (in no particular order):

    Derg
    CaptBill
    Polar742
    Alchemy
    Kristie
    lostplanetairman
    HRDiva
    Seggy
    bareman
    amorris311

Each of you has gone out of your way to help me at one point or another, for one reason or another. So, my sincere appreciation and thanks to each of you! I will continue to do my best to pay it forward! :)

I think I got everyone; however, my apologies to anyone I may have inadvertently omitted in the list above!

Ooops, I thought of at least one person I missed.  Many years ago, JEP donated his wife's NJC ticket to me because she was unable to attend that year. I was a poor regional FO at the time and certainly appreciated his generosity. I have since donated an NJC entrance fee to someone else in an effort to pay it forward.

SO......a big THANKS to you as well, JEP!!! The people on this site are a cut above; and networking will help you along on your future endeavours.

I'm a member of both APC, PPRUNE and this forum. Even though I'm European, I still somehow feel that the comradery and helping spirit is higher on the American forums than on the European/Asian ones. Don't really know why exactly, maybe it's just a misconception from my side..

Either case, good luck with the new job, hope to move up the ladder here in Asia some day as well myself =)

Congrats Cruise! Like you, I attained my current position (first flying job) due to networking on this website. Without this forum, I have no idea where I'd be today. Thanks to Derg and the rest of the crew for this place to ponder the meaning of life with fellow aviators!

No Worries, Cruise !!! Glad to help. And to echo the comments, it does work. Even outside of aviation this site is beyond helpful. I had mentioend to another MOD that I was trying to get an interview at US Bank and he knew someone. He places a call, and hte next week I had that interview. In the end the job did pan out, but were it not for the networking I would never have known.

I have no doubt that were I to pursue a career in aviation the contacts made here would provide numerous opportunities.

And Derg syas he's jsut keeping the lights on... Ha !!!

Congrats Cruise! I've gotten all my aviation jobs on my own but I still network since you never know when it might help.
