Hello everyone. I am going to be moving up there in about a month and wondered if anyone knew of any flight schools that are hiring flight instructors. Any info would be great.

    Thanks

Where exactly are you goign to be living if you know yet? There are several airports under the MSP ClassB area that have fligth schools:

    KFCM - Eden Prairie
    KMIC - Crystal
    KLVN - Lakeville
    KANE - Anoka
    KSTP - Saint Paul

there are more, but those are some of the busier fields. Most of the jobs are never posted, but come through networking and basically beating down the doors of the schools.

Let me know what area you may be at and I'll see what else I can dig up.

BTW, where are you moving from? And Why? Do you know it get's COLD here in the winter? :sarcasm:

I'm going to be living in Elko about 30 minutes from FCM. I am moving up there from Arlington, TX because my girlfriend lives there and the long distance thing is getting old. I'm really not sure exactly where most of the airports are in relation to that but driving doesn't really bother me.

Yeah the cold is going to get to me. I've lived in the southwest my whole life.

Yeah, I am originally from Arlington, also, and the cold up here sucks...I was only up here for 1 week this last winter and that was enough to know I want out before winter really gets started.

    Good luck up here!

Yeah it will be different adjusting to the cold. Especially when my concept of cold is 50 degrees. But oh well, it will be a learning experience if nothing else. I spent a month up there last winter but it was really mild and I was told that I didn't get to fully experience the MN winter. At least the airplane performance will be superb.:)

Howdy. You may want to apply at Twin Cities Flight Training at KANE. They're actively hiring right now. You'll be a "contractor" and set your own hours, so you won't have to sit there all day and wait for students, but the flight school just created a new policy that all instructors make $48 per hour (IIRC). I think $16 of that goes to the school. No twin, though. If you have your MEI, try Flying Scotchman at KMIC. I don't know if they're hiring, but their instructors are also contractors (so I've heard), and they have a nice Duchess.

I've trained out of both these schools, and also out of 21D. If you want any top secret inside info about any of them, PM me. I've also heard that Wings in STP is hiring, but I don't know if that's true. Oh, and Airlake (LVN) also has a Duchess, but I know nothing whatsoever about training there.

I'd much prefer Minneapolis winters over eastern Washington summers. Makes flying very unpleasurable. I guess being from eastern Montana (like freakin' Siberia with a lot more wind and just as cold if not colder than MN) hardened me for the cold though.

Yeah hopefully I can stand the cold. I'll be freezing my *ss off probably especially trying to instruct in a small airplane. It's amazing what you'll do for a good woman.

Word, your chick seems like a badass. Just get a few jackets and some long underwear and you'll be fine.

Shoot man, think of the heat coming off the engine. You'll be plenty warm. Long johns.....those are for wimps....You won't need 'em.

It will be cold, but just think of the performance you'll get out of the plane. :nana2:

I would take winter flying over summer flying any day. None of that crappy haze, no annoying thunderstorms, thermals, or turbulence, and even the doggiest airplane climbs like a rock star. And, there's less air traffic flying around. And, there's less contention for rental airplanes. However, make sure the airplanes are hangared, because spending 45 minutes at the start of a lesson to scrape frost off the wings sucks.

I made it up here on Friday finally. I forgot what 80 degrees felt like after being in the Texas heat. Now I'm just hunting for a job...

80's??? I don't think it broke 70 today. Summer's over...thank heaven I get to go back and forth to Florida to keep my sanity. Come on, 2 weeks of it being over 90 does not count as a summer!:)

Anyone who goes to Florida to KEEP sanity is obviously a very troubled soul. Don't worry -- you'll start feeling much better now that the cool, clean autumn (and even better, winter) air is moving in.

It will be nice to be able to wear jeans once in a while. I think we had 32 straight days of 100 degrees or more in Dallas.

It got up to about 91 here today and it felt like I was sitting under the air conditioner. I hope it stays that way for a while.
