Gents, wondering if anyone has a copy of the local course rules / airfield ops manual for Edwards AFB. Thanks!

well didn't really end up needing it anyway, buuuuuttttttt......a U-2 as well as an F-35 (w/ Viper chase) ended up flying beneath me while I was out there working the 2508 today. Pretty cool! Was it you Huggy?

The IFR Supplement has contact info. I'm sure their Ops would email your government email or give you a link. Probably a better idea than asking a bunch of bums on the internet.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the R2508 User's Guide and some related documents are all online and available to the public HERE.

Having read the User's Guide before, that place kinda seems like Disneyland for fighter pilots. Have fun? :)

Yeah, I went through all the CAC access 2508 stuff, but I didn't find a whole lot re: course rules into/out of EDW. And yeah, it is a busy busy Disneyland where you are never more than a few moments away from having a midair with a Viper/Raptor/Rhino/etc. Anypne who goes out there without air-to-air radar is crazy IMHO......there was a King Air climbing up underneath where we were doing 45 degree roll in attacks from 20k+

    I see you're already a radar/HUD crutch baby........

I had such high hopes for you.

    AMG,
No, it wasn't me. It would have been an X-Ray callsign from Palmdale Flight Test.
As for the course rules, you are not supposed to operate in EDW airspace unless you get the full briefing from one of their qualified guys. Call DSN 527-2222, and tell them you need a 2508 briefing, and they will give you the guy's number. He's located in the 2d floor of baseops, and is the person that replaced Mr Gries (I can't think of his name).
Anyways, there are a lot of nuances, and you really do need the brief: if you violate a procedure out there, it will get Flag Officer attention. It's pretty interesting anyways, and takes less than 45 min.

Air-to-air radar? What's that? Should I have that on my T-38?? :yup:

Awesome, thanks for the info Huggy. I'll give em a call.....it would most likely only be an emergency if I had to go in there, but after having to do just that earlier this week into Yuma, I guess I figured I should give diverts more than just lip service.

He was indeed an X-Ray call sign....and he sounded like a bad ass for sure :)

Haha guilty as charged....though I think my radar mech relies more on luck than skill at this point
