Just wondering for anyone who has gone through the program at ATP since they began using the iPad if you purchased the option of having 3G/4G? Their website says its "required"... But that just adds additional expenses at a bad time. Is it actually needed/worth it?

Its cheaper than buying all the books, plus ATP has put alot of online training on it. I have four students that all are happy with the online training modules. They have the wifi only 32 gig model.

OK, yeah sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I can see how the iPad itself is a good tool. I just didnt know whether or not the extra expense of the 3G capability was worth it. Thanks, bkey

    Starbucks.

Just make sure you bring your hipster glasses and charge every one of your battery powered devices while you are there. Also, don't forget to talk loudly on your phone about how you aced the meeting and are going to be making a zillion more dollars a month while you head out to drive your beat up '94 Corrola.

Like any other convenience, 3G is nice to have. Sitting at the end of a runway staring at a sky that was not forecast that way is a great time to be able to pull out your Ipad and look at some real time weather, rather than taxi back in and hook up to some wifi. That scenario can make 3G very worth it and I have been in that situation, without 3G, so I wished I had it even more then! If you want to be as frugal as possible though, you can do just fine without it as well.

I am hearing a lot of rave reviews from the Ipad in the program.

Funny thing is I found out McDonalds also has WiFi. That was a whole 'nuther 'sperience right thur!

There was some crazy guy downloading 'his shows' while he yelled at a skyping teenager with giant over the ear headphones and a handheld microphone to stop stealing all his bandwidth. I'm now feeling better with the Starbucks hipster crowd.

I have the Ipad 2- 3g 64G and I think the 3g is a must have, you will find your self wanting it in many places that don't have Wifi. and on a side note 64G is hardly enough memory, for movies and music, I hope the next Ipad will have more memory...
