The wife and I will be packing up and heading to Houston next month! It'll hopefully be a good change for us. If anyone lives in the Houston area and has some leads us houses please shoot me a PM.

That's like when people pull me aside in the terminal and ask "do you work here?"

    Uh...is this a trick question?

Which airport will you be flying out of? Also depends on what type of lifestyle you have... Where to live in Houston really just depends on what you like and how long of a commute you want to have to work. I could PM you a list of favorable neighborhoods but I have no idea what you are looking for to begin with... Holler at me and we will get you sorted out.

I'll be flying out of Hobby. Not opposed to making a bit of a drive since I'll only have to do it a few times a week and my wife will be driving almost every day for her job and that's hard part because she won't probably get hers till we get there. We'd love to live downtown but not sure we can afford it. We'd like an area that is safe foremost and doesn't smell like benzine. Everything else is gravy.

    That's the smell of money.

Congrats on moving to the greatest city, in the greatest state. Houston is the city that formed almost all of my thinking - growing up there was one of the best pieces of luck I've ever had. Your children will do well to grow up there as well. As for living arrangements - do make it good for your wife if she's driving every day. Rent something until you get a feel for what you want or can afford. Memorial is a nice area. Base it on your wife's work location though - if she doesn't have a job yet in Houston, get something somewhat centrally located until she finds something.

Excellent choice! Of course being from Houston myself, I'm a bit biased. :)

I used to spend a lot of time in Clear Lake at the Hilton. EFD was a great place to fly out of. I thought it was a nice area and the real estate was cheap. That was prolly 15 years ago. But if I had to live there I wouldn't live downtown. I'd find a nice place on the water a ways away.
