I just got finished transposing my paper logbook to this free site and tried looking for an AppStore app for it, and found it doesn't exist...I've been tinkering with app design here and there, and was wondering if this is something people would be willing to throw a few bucks at, based on well it functions? If so, what is that value worth to you?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

I'd be wiling to pay a few bucks for an app. Its one of my favorite online logbooks but websites are not always guaranteed to be around.

Talk to the owner...he's said before that he had plans to make an app, but it's really low on his list. I think he said he'd be open to having someone make one for/with him. The whole site is open source, so you can start having a look at what might work, what wouldn't.

It wouldn't be too difficult to do, I just don't really have the time.

If anyone needs a development instance of it, I'll set one up. Just ask.

Sorry, I was replying to the OP. I can barely pronounce "development instance", let alone know what to do with it. :p

I use the site and really like it. An app for the site would be awesome and I would throw some dollars towards it.

What I meant was I can set up a copy of the website suitable for developing a mobile app against. I'm not an iOS developer though - I don't even have a Mac right now, so someone that does mobile Objective C would need to step up on that side of things.

I usually am a cheapskate and tend to get the "free" version of apps, but I would most defnitely pay for this one. I made the mistake and got Logbook pro....which isn't terrible to have as a backup, but lately it's still hit or miss lately on if I can log in or not.

What has been wrong with it? It works daily for me and I've never had a problem with it.

How hard is this? I tried to set up a copy on my home server since the one it's hosted on the internet is quite unreliable, but quickly ran into a wall with django and python... neither of which I know well, or at all for django.

After several weeks of debating I decided against an iPad and ended up ordering an Android tablet. I've started work on building another aviation application for Android that I want for my own use and may offer for others once it's done, but after I get that pretty well wrapped up I will consider building a logbook app and flightlogg.in might be a good sync option.

funny because today i can't even get to the website to log in. but my problem has been with that stupid openid thing. its about a 50/50 shot when i log in if i go to my account, or it just goes to a random openuserid account. verrrry annoying!

edit: now it let me go to the website, but all day its been openuseridXXXX..

If it works offline as well as online then I'm in.

That's been one of the major hurdles I've been investigating...if the app went directly online and entered the data, cool, but creating one to store info and then sync later is another thing entirely.
