Pulled over once, let off with a grumble to not do it again, and a handful of parking tickets because, well, I did park against University policy a few times.

Does it count if the officer pulling me over was my uncle, and all he did was call me a "dumb ass" and then told my mom, who punished me?

If you were playing NWA's "F the Police" when the officer pulled you over AND it happened to be your uncle, that might be a hilarious story to share! Ha!

Nah, still under the "most literal interpretation" of the question, that would not qualify as a "Yes".

He probably would've just beat me with his baton if that happened. Hilarity would've definitely been one sided.

Like having lights flipped on behind you. Have all your stuff in hand. Only to find out it's your bored brother in law who wanted to say hi...

I like your anachronistic use of the word "flip".

    So retro. So… Hipster. :)

I think that's the opposite of the point, actually.

Certainly what I was trying to convey was that, while the "bait and switch" may have "worked" in this instance, that success by no means validates the technique for use elsewhere.

I think some of the reactions here are a little too dramatic. I know what my situation was, and I didn't hide anything from anyone. It may be interpreted differently how I wrote it here, but the point I was trying to make by following up on this thread is: I was honest, owned up to my mistakes and want to move on. Thanks for the advice. There is nothing to hide and nothing that will get me fired in the future.

No, my theme is "you prevaricated, and that's troubling."

I still hate these questions. The "have you ever been arrested" type question. It's irrelevant. Have you ever been convicted, relevant. I personally got a ticket but had it dismissed in court after the judge heard my case against it. I'm surprised "have you been arrested" hasn't gotten "HR'd" yet.
