Hey Guys I was just wondering if anyone had any recent interview experience with Colgan. It seems that I had read something a few weeks ago but I cannot find the post!

I guess no one has any insight right now. I was just looking for a little help as this will be my first real interview and I am really pretty nervous. All the other jobs I have ever had in aviation have been pretty much handed to me because of word of mouth, soooo I would love a little heads up. Anyone anyone Bueller, Bueller???

Ask Miles O'Brian. I think he has some recent interview experience.

Sorry, here's something that will help you with the interview. There is a whole "history of Colgan" in the beginning of the movie which will help you at the interview. Between that knowledge and a smile on your face (provided you are able to pass a medical) and some basic HR questions you should be fine. If you watch the rest you'll have a good idea what to expect while working there. I wouldn't if I were you, if you watch the whole program you might not want to work there.

Know the history of the company. Smile, tell them something like all you want to be is a pilot and you don't have many bills. Tell them you love working hard.

I interviewed and turned down the job in Nov 2008. test was straight ATP stuff (if you didn't already have an ATP written), and the sim was pretty basic. full motion 1900 and only asked you you take off imc, hold, and shoot ils (landing was not graded). sim session was both you, and your partner (you traded seats - play along, call the other guy/gal "captain" and prompt him/her with things to think about (landing checklist complete, confirm his/her hold decision, announce flaps, etc). no failtures....basically a test on SA....but again, this was before 3407.

too bad i'm worth more than $18,000....otherwise, i'd have seniority over you wishful ones! :)

Somebody explain this to me: why did you go to the interview and then turn down the job because of pay? I mean, you knew what the pay was before you went to the interview so why bother wasting everybody's time?

Interview experience and practice maybe. Lot's of folks do it. And if more people would actually stand up and reject the pay, this industry would be a lot better!

Exactly. It's pretty much a BAD idea to only interview at the place you really, really want to work at. Experience is good.

Why? You wouldn't want to work there would you? How much time do you have?

Yeah, if I was offered a GPS direct enter captain slot, then I might consider colgan (still probably not because the work rules seem to suck), but even then the pay kind of sucks. Especially for the east coast. You can do better than that.

That's not to hate on Colganites, that's just how I see it in terms of pay and QoL, which is all that really matters. You've either gotta live someplace you love, or make enough money to tolerate where you're at, or some combination therein.

Like any airline living in base can give you a good QOL.

But I don't think you could afford to live in EWR on Q400 FO pay at colgan, certainly someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
