BEST & Worst Airports?

Not sure how they came up with this list.... If I had to vote, DFW would top my list.

Worst = LGA
Best = tie between LAS and SEA

Worst = anything New York area.

Best = Atlanta, DFW and Seattle

KTEB... worst

Our southernmost scheduled destination, by far. Runway is a POS and you have to cross about eleventy billion miles of open water to get there. At least it feels that way in a piston single. Also the weather always sucks and lots of fat people fly in and out of there.

Best is Homebase field. Big runway, good ways to get in when the weather is down, lots of lights, and most importantly, it's home.

IN SEAK I'd say Kake is the sketchiest trip, but a decent runway, Excursion Inlet / Glacier Point are the sketchiest runways but easy trips. Best runway is Gustavus, no obstacles, good lights, and a great LPV appraoch.

OK, I'll buy that. I was thinking of our regular destinations. PAFE has the hump in the middle of the TDZ of 11 so you have to land either past that or to the left which is why I complain about it. That and the passengers/loads there are a hassle. Friggin Fred Meyer and Costco boxes. And did I mention the huge amount of open water and chronically crappy weather? Gusty is great, I'll give you that. Better even than the home base.

You guys go to Glacier Point? I didnt think anybody had flown there since LAB stopped flying people over there.

Seattle tops my list (just above Atlanta)...here's why:
1 - KNOWN CREWMEMBER LINE
2- Awesome WiFi (can stream ESPN3 sitting on the ramp...not that I know that)
3- Starbucks at every turn (or Dilettante, or Seattle's Best)
4- Wagi's Sushi for something good and quick to eat

Atlanta is #2 for me, it needs a KCM line and free wifi...then it would be just awesome! (It does have Chick-Fil-A, Krystal and soon to be Varsity though...so it's food options are pretty outstanding)

Sully even chose the Hudson over TEB. That speaks volumes.

Regarding (1), it's totally worth walking down to L in ORD just to walk back to the Gangsta Side, just to do KCM.

PHX has KCM now, too.

Seattle is friggin awesome. Good food court, good wifi, and I love the huuuuge window.

I would imagine if someone gave us some money and said "can you take me there?" we would but we don't do it regularly. I plan on taking the tripod there this summer though, just to say I did.

That makes sense. When Pat mentioned Glacier Point I thought maybe you guys go there.

Really??? Charlotte??? Obviously the writer and the editor have never landed 30 minutes early, but still managed to get to the gate 10 minutes late because the ramp controllers have no clue as to what they are doing!
The article lost all credibility when I read this.

I can agree with most of this list.

Some of you guys need to remember this wasn't published for pilots, but for passengers, you know those people who sit behind us and ask stupid questions?

My opinion, because you asked:
SEA is up there because you can go from one end to the other and not break a sweat. And also you don't have to exit and re-enter secure area's.
MSP also has a lot of mobility and food choices.
CLT is well lit, and has a pretty inviting open area to gaze and eat.
DFW. although large, at least someone in Texas had the forethought of passengers being able to move from one terminal to the other, and give them choices of food and seating.

Worse to why do we even bother getting off the airplane:
LGA. There is nothing more exciting that parking at terminal 6 and have to exit and go to the MAT. Dealing with New Yorkers, and the TSA is a double fun.
EWR. I really love lugging my bags around from A to C gates and trying to fit into the bus with the other fatass passengers. Double points for have to transfer buses to go from A25 to A18! C terminal is pretty nice, I'll concede that point.
LAX. Has no one in the airport planning committee considered that passengers will transfer from Bradley to the other terminals? This and the fact the LA population base generally vote Democrat is why LA as a city needs to disappear altogether.
MIA. Hot, muggy, and you'd think a little tiny airline like United AND Continental would have enough clout to park in something other than a terminal from 1936. Thats OK, crew and passengers don't want a choice in food, or any other amenities.

Any airport that offers Boingo.
I really don't want to pay for WiFi. Ever.

ORD is right in the middle, not quite bad, but not quite good. The size takes away from the convenience not not having to leave secured area to switch terminals.
ATL. Same as ORD. Thank goodness I don't commute there. 45 minutes between flights isn't enough to traverse from one end to the other.

DTW. If you're flying only Delta proper (and I don't mean a connection carrier), then its not too bad. Having to navigate the plethora of morons who stop immediately after the walkways to figure out which RJ gate they need is a little cumbersome. Really, you can't move 3 feet to your right and get the hell out of the way of all the other people trying to walk while you figure out that the Grand Rapids gate is behind you?


And Finally the all time best airport:
IND.
Why? Because it's home. Free WiFi. I will always fly out of the A gates, always. If I commute, I don't have to exit security, ever.

Worst for me.

IAH- took 8 frequencies to get from gate to airborne. Ramp, metering, ground, ramp, another ramp, metering again, ground, tower. In 8 years I still haven't figured out if I'm getting 15L/R and when I think I have an idea....they send us to 9.

ORD- takes forever to get from gate to hotel and the taxi from Wisconsin (or whatever state they put 27R in) to the E concourse is a pain.
