I've put my Garmin GPS V up for auction on Ebay. It's a pretty neat GPS in of itself - it was, to my knowledge, the first GPS to offer turn by turn directions on the fly. You just plug in an address and it goes. The reason I'm posting here is because back when I was flying on my own, I had adapted it to be used for flying purposes. For those familiar with the Garmin line of products, the V used the same platform at the III Pilot, it just came with a ground based database as opposed to an aviation one. The folks over at www.cockpitgps.com figured out how to get the FAA/NACO database onto the non-aviation GPS's in the form of waypoints, and that's what I used it as. It was sweet, because I could use it as a GPS in the air, and then jump in the rental car with it and use it to navigate around with. It's got the basic nav modes that you'd expect for an aviation type unit - with an HSI and NDB pointer, altitude, speed, mag heading, distance, etc. Using www.cockpitgps.com you can download all the airports, VOR's, and NDB's in the US and place them onto the GPS. You can even create flight plans, and then save them, by combining the waypoints along say a Victory airway. Aeroplanner even offers updated waypoints. Anyway, if you're interested, it's listed on ebay. In fact, in an ironic twist, it was my first ever purchase on ebay. Enough of the talk, here is the listing: GARMIN GPS V 5 Unit & accessories including USA Maps
