Default Any interest in a NIB Garmin Geko 201???

I've got a brand new in the box Geko 201, but don't really have a use for it. Anybody interested? MSRP off of the Garmin website is $149. Make a reasonable offer and it's yours...

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=220

Oh yeah, free shipping in CONUS.

Just did some research; looks like these things are going for about $80 away from the manufaturer's website...open to offers.

I've got one. Without mapping, I find it useless, but it's fun to play with while driving.

I read a little bit about it on Garmin's site...looks like it'd be fun to mess around with. It came with a recent purchase, just don't need it ...

You bought the Bose headset didn't you. Personally I have had a great time using my Geko. If you have the serial cable and Garmin mapsource software you can program it pretty nicely. Beats the crap out of carrying the 96c all over the backcountry.

Yes sir, I sure did ...I'll actually get to try it out tomorrow with any luck of the weather . So you enjoy your little Geko, huh? I just don't think I'd have the time for messin' around with it. And I don't wanna crack it open before I decide I still want to sell it (used)...We'll see if I get any offers to entertain, and if not maybe I'll just keep it, lol.

Even if you don't use it, I think anybody that is interested in being outside could find a use for it. So far I have rigged it to the strap on my backpack, attached it to the handlebars of a mountain bike (duct tape of course), attached it to my fishing vest, and used it to help my dad survey a fence line.

As long as it has a clear view of the sky it is pretty accurate, I have seen it as low as 4 feet. The biggest drawback to it is that it doesn't have a map, and you need the software and the serial cable to program waypoints into it. I think the bare bones Mapsource software can be downloaded from garmin for free. That gives you highways and cities plus a few things. The detailed stuff is fairly expensive, around $100, but I found mine (the entire US topo series) on ebay for $40.

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE being outside. I'm sure that if I held onto it I'd find a use for it...even if it's was just for the "distance traveled" function while I ran. Who knows. Doesn't look like these are a very popular item...especially around a bunch of pilots who use the "good stuff" on a regular basis... . And if all I'm going to get for it on eBay is $70, maybe I'll just keep it and mess around with it. If I get anything on here about it by tomorrow, maybe I'll crack it open ...

Well, I broke it out today and so far I'm enjoying it. Haven't done a lot with it really. Just basic stuff like learning how to set it up for waypoints, tracks, and even tried out the maze game, lol. Seems damn accurate, too. I walked off a known distance with it, and was dead on (in feet) the entire (800 foot) length of steel runway Maybe I'll look into getting the serial cable and what-not for it.

Oh yeah, and I never got to try out the new headset today . Was WAY too windy . Maybe Monday or Tuesday I reckon. I did though, pop the batteries in and try it out. I've never even had a set of ANR headphones before, so that was cool. Almost "feels" like they suck the air right out of your ears, lmao !! Can't wait to get 'em in a plane........Sorry for sounding like a little kid in a candy store...'cause I actually kinda feel like it!! HAHA........
