| Based at MKC – Downtown Kansas City Airport -1976 Cessna 172M, N73365 -IFR Certified -Garmin 150XL GPS w moving map -$2,500 buy in, $65 per TACOMETER hour wet (fuel included), $33.33 per month dues. Let’s compare my airplane to another 70’s vintage 172 for rent at the same airport, assuming you fly 200hrs (I flew about that working on my Inst/Comm/CFI): FBO: $103.79 per HOBBS meter, times 200hrs = $20,758 N73365: $65 per TACOMETER (this means you only pay the full $65 when the engine is running at full power. Taxing time is almost free!!! My experience is that I pay about $48 for a “hobbs” hr., (engine start, to stop time). So, at a comparable 200 “hobbs” hrs. $48 X 200, = $9,600. After the very reasonable monthly dues, it is about half the cost of renting. |

Dang....that's a pretty decent deal. I wish I lived in KC. Just for comparison to a couple of ownership groups down here...how many owners are there?

15 "owners", about 6 of us actually fly on a regular basis. Decent mix of retired airline pilots, weekend warriors, A&P's, and bums like me!
