My airplane is up for sale on Ebay. It isn't the airplane for me. Too slow, short legs. Great for timebuilding which is what I bought it for, back before the delta pilots took it in the keister and I knew for sure I wasn't going to be a pro-pilot(sorry Doug but at least some people listen to what you guys that have been-there-and-done-it have to say.) It has around 4500 hours and 950SMOH. It is up on the ebay right now. CLICK HERE Just so you know (outside of purchase costs which I fully plan to recover) I was paying around $30/hour to fly this thing. Edited by I_Money - Just putting the link in!!!

What are you thinking of buying now? If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought a 150 and built time in it. I guess I can't complain though because I love what I'm doing and where I'm at, but I'd like to be in less debt. |

would it be to buy it, use for personal time building then use it to instruct in it. what are the monthly payments usually like on a 150, and also insurance costs.

a 150 is a great plane for that purpose especially if you have a little bit of cash up front.

I want either a long-ez or cozy MKiv. I love canards and want the speed and cross country ability to be able to visit friends and family. In fact I found a brandy new Long not far from here but I am not so sure I want to be a test pilot...at least not for something I didn't build. My insurance as a private pilot with less than 100 hours was 700 a year. Payments are based on how ever you finance it. Tiedown at my airport ran $60 a month. Autofuel STC allows use of cheaper 87octane. And don't let the pictures fool you. It is a great looking airplane from 20 feet. Up close it looks like crap. Could definately use new paint. There are two 150J's on there. mine is the ugly one. N51285 (AKA the one that is getting very close to its reserve price.)

Even without the older logs and not being able to say "NDH" you should be closer to $20k IMO.

I wish I could find one for that price IFR certified in about a year when I can pay cash...that is a superlow price man. It's crazy when you think how much cheaper gas is in a 150, and rental, and all you need to get your ppl is hrs. The long xcountry I did, had it been in a 150, would have met and exceeded my xcountry requirements. Too bad.

Slushie, I agree but they way I figure it, I would just like to get what I have into it back out. I am hoping for a fast sell. So I threw it on ebay. one of the bidders came and looked then called me and asked what my reserve is. I said, "Hey look. Bid on it and if it doesn't sell, I will tell you the price I will let it go for. Right now that price is $14,500" He laughed and said he understood and then put a bid in. Also for the jetcareers guys if you buy it and after you do a prebuy or look it over yourself, you don't want it, All I would ask for is my ebay listing fee back. That only applies to cool members of this forum. My discretion completely. You can PM if you want to know if you are on my list...the good list that is! Not the one I cross names off of while wearing lipstick...Anyway.I went to get pics of the panel today but the flight school still has my radio. ( I let them borrow it while theirs is fixed so I can gain favor of the owner and fly his arrow some...) So my panel pictures have a gaping hole where the radio slides in. I am going to put it in tomorrow and take a pic of the radio in it. Thanks I_Money for adding the link for me.

DesertEaglle you are right. I have flown to Jax a few times and boy it takes a while but if you are after hours it is the way to go. I thought about installing the radios needed for IFR and going ahead and doing my IFR in it but I think I am just going to pony up the cash and do this 7 day course in NC I have been looking at. Truthfully, anyone thinking of buying this and equipping it for IFR, you don't want to do that. It is pretty expensive to get it IFR. You could by one already equipped for a better overall cost.

Hmmmmm... "0" feedback, from Peru. Keep our eye out for a scam. Did he call you or talk to you before bidding?

Interesting. I'm looking into selling my C152 maybe soon, havent decided on an asking price yet. 1978 C152 IFR Equipped KLN-89B GPS (Database expired, but works great for VFR) (2) RT-385 Nav/Comm's, (2) VOR recievers- 1 w/Glide slope needle connected to #1 RT-385 Bendix King ADF/NDB Receiver Marker Beacon Lights Transponder Intercom Annual Done in November 2005, Oil is changed every 50 hrs. Hours and such I'll have to do a some calculating. But the compressions are strong, and 3/4 cyclinders are new. |

If you aren't a member of AOPA I will do the Vref for you if you want. PM me. Grabo I hear you and thought the same thing. He has called several times during the auction and if he can work how to get the money here in time it is his. He is supposed to call today about it.

Thanks for the reply-I'm a member, and i'm checking on the Vref stuff, alot of my avionics options are not on their list for the calculations. For example- the intercom, 2 Nav/Com RT385's, etc. Still checking on it.

I notice you don't wanna ferry the airplane. I live in Hilton Head and have become a specialist in ferrying little airplanes over long distances. My "resume" includes a C152 from San Diego, CA to Richmond, VA, and an Ercoupe from Richmond to Fort Worth, TX and back and then again to Gainesville, FL. Also a 172 from Frederick, MD to Dothan, AL.

![]() I think its a win win. The logistics of having to move the airplane are greatly simplified. I drive an hour and a half up to Charleston, fly the airplane where it needs to go, hop on an airliner and fly back to Charleston and drive an hour and a half home. The buyer and seller don't have to worry about making time in their schedule to deliver it, and I get the flight time and a few bucks in my pocket. Win Win. On another note, do be careful about those international bidders. The FBO where I worked was trying to sell a 15,000 hour 182RG. Some guy from Europe sent an email asking if they'd disassmble it and put it in a crate on a container ship and send it over. After that agreement was made, he asked for a bank account number to wire transfer the money (way more money than the airplane was worth). After denying that request and asking for a check of some sort, the buyer beat feet from the deal and was never heard from again.

Yep I hear you but ferry isn't required. It is going to Lima, Peru by ship. He is arranging all of that not me. It may need a ferry to the shipping place. I will keep you in mind. He wanted to wire money but I said no so he is fedexing a check.

Wow small world I am the one doing the ferry to Peru... If you Think of packing an airplane in a container is cheaper? You may need to do a bit more homework...the ocean freight cost is only the start of a big shopping list of charges! As the guy in Peru found out! Expect something Below: Buying or Leasing a Container Container Delivery Charges Hangar Rental Disassembly "Mechanics Fees" Packing Cartage Export Entry (Customs) Origin Charges (USA) e.g. ports terminal handling, forklift, wharfage Insurance (Maritime) Freight CABAF Documents - Carrier Bill of Lading Documents - House Bill of Lading Maritime Security Destination Charges e.g. terminal handling charges, forklift, wharfage Delivery Order Customs Clearance MAF/Quartantine/AQIS Cartage Unpack Reassembly (If changing reg not a real problem) Container Return If Not Purchased

Wow!!!! I now know why it sold so cheap & the owner did not want to ferry it!! The thing burns 1 Quart of oil every 2 hours and Has lots of corrosion. I feel bad for the buyer it was his first airplane he was told one thing by seller received another. Buyer did not have a good pre-buy so was a costly learning experience for him aircraft is staying in the states until fixed! I think buyer in Peru is just going to resell it.
