Buyer did not have a good pre-buy so was a costly learning experience for him aircraft is staying in the states until fixed! I think buyer in Peru is just going to resell it.
So are you telling us that you're ferrying shooter's airplane to the customer in Peru. Shooter! Is it true what he says?

Well I just heard this thread was still going. Thanks Grabo. You guys all know I haven't been here in a while.

Actually Vertical Hitchiker is assuming an awful lot.

I stated the condition of the airplane to the buyer in complete detail. I offered him to back out of the deal after he has a prebuy done. I told him I didn't think buying an airplane in SC that is 30 years old and flying it to Peru was a very good idea but he was ready. He had the airplane checked over by a mechanic here. Corrosion certainly wasn't an issue in August when it sold. Neither was compression or oil burn. My last flight in the airplane was to Jacksonville and back from Charleston SC. Similar to the flight you took it to Atlanta Vertical. I didn't burn the kind of oil that you experienced. My guess the fact that it sat on the ground from when he bought until the past month may have had something to do with a seal drying out or something. I spoke with the buyer and he seemed to agree and didn't feel like I had misled him at all. Maybe he represented himself and his feelings differently to you. I don't know.

What I do know is that I don't like being accused of Swindling a person. Before you go posting about how I took advantage of someone you really should learn all the facts of the matter. The buyer did have a prebuy inspection done. It showed nothing wrong. Granted I hooked him up with the mechanic but the A&P and I aren't buddies or anything. he is just the only A&P at the airport where the airplane was based. Corrosion certainly wasn't listed as a major concern. not by the mechanic that did his prebuy or the one who did the annual the October previous for me.

There WAS nothing wrong with that airplane. I flew my daughter in it all the time. Well if something was wrong with it, I never knew about it. What happened to it between my last flight and your ferry flight, I don't know. What I do know is that I told him all the problems that I knew about on the airplane. I made sure he knew what he was buying. I then hooked him up with some help to get the airplane to Florence for an annual prior to ferry.

You state that I didn't want to ferry it basically cause it was a POS. I didn't want to ferry it because he lived in Peru and I work and have a normal life. D'uh! I am not qualified to fly a single engine Cessna 150 to Peru from where I live. Shipping it was his idea entirely. He wasn't told one thing and got another. Your allegations are wrong and patently offensive and are based entirely on conjecture and not fact or at the very least are based on your perception of events that don’t include all the details..

James didn't get the shaft. He got exactly what I described and sold to him. When I parked the airplane the last time, they day before I took his check to the bank, it was a safe, flying, in annual really old and really ugly Cessna 150 that had typical oil consumption of 1 quart every 12 hours. I haven't lost any sleep over things not working out for him at all. I dealt with him in an honest and forthcoming manner. My conscious is clear. You truly have no idea what you speak of. Lastly, before telling him about the oil burn. Did you have someone check to make sure the drain plug was tight? I am sure they did an oil change at annual(it was due after all). Any chance it leaked oil instead of burning it? I know the compressions sucked when he had it annualed. I know what they were when I had an annual done and what they were when he did. Other than that, I can’t say. I just wonder if he sold an otherwise ok airplane because it may have had a leak from a non tightened plug.

Who would have thought this would be what brought me back to JC after an absence.

Thanks Surreal. I am not back like I used to be. Fighting the career bug again.

I had a great year in terms of income last year but Dang I hate my job.

Sorry I am flying off the handle about this but for a few years of my life, you guys on JC were my buddies and I don't like being called a cheat.

Certainly understandable - I'd feel the exact same way.

Just glad we got your take on the situation as well, always better to have as much information about a situation as possible.

You'll have to let me know if/when you make it up to Columbia, you and Grabo both. I'm planning on a checkride with the great Carroll Joye here in about 2-4 weeks or so.

Carrol is really great. Have you flown with him before? He did my private ride. When Ihad the foggles on, he turned the volume on the radio down and turned the heater on. Man it was getting hot but I was thinking it was just me being nervous making me sweat. I never did figure out the radio. He only turned one side down and I got the AWOs from the other radio. There was only one Airplane in the air and at our field, people flying without using the radio isn't that uncommon on a pretty day.

Good luck on the ride. If I ever get that way for more than just driving through, I'll definately let you know. There is a guy with a LongEX up that way I thought about coming to look at. Look at the airplane not the guy that is.

Thanks for the words of wisdom about Carrol. No, it'll be my PP-ASEL checkride, so . . . my first one, lol.
