Default DAL MD88 Maint to Mexico

Hope I put this in the right section ....

via MD80.net...

Delta Air Lines, currently under bankruptcy protection, is cutting 1,000 jobs in maintenance. As a part of this restructuring all heavy maintenance of its MD-88 fleet will be transferred to Aeromexico's two repair shops in Guadalajara and Mexico City. The first MD-88 is scheduled to go there in July.

Delta will a shut down some maintenance facilities in Atlanta and smaller maintenance bases in Chicago, Dallas and Philadelphia.

It sucks to lose jobs out of the country, but as far as safety goes... America West has been sending their 757s to El Salvador for heavy MX for a few years now. I'm sure there are others as well. Hell, we send some of our CRJs to Canada for repair work.

Old news. Old OLD news.

Take a peek at where the maintenance jobs went and you'll have a glimpse of what the ATA wants to do with pilot jobs if we let the administration relax cabotage laws.
