Talking POH question.. please help.

If a Cessna engine is replace from the o-320 to an 0-360 and from a fixed pitch to a constant speed prop are you not required to make a revised or amended, don't remember the verbiage, POH? It's not for commercial use, just a plane for private use. If you know could you please provide me with where I could find this information? Thanks

Most (all?) modifications of that nature would require a Supplemental Type Certificate, and yes the AFM/POH/Placards/Limitations would have to reflect the new data.

When the airplane was made it came with an Airworthiness Certificate. This Airworthiness Certificate validates that the aircraft has been inspected and conforms to the type certificate, and is in condition for safe operation.

The type certificate above is the TCDS (Type Certificate Data Sheet).

If something is modified, the airplane is no longer airworthy unless the aircraft data is amended. Methods of modification that I know of are through either an STC, FAA Field Approval, or an Airworthiness Directive.

The FAA website has all this info on their Advisory Circular Database. You can also find info about this in the Regs, AOPA, etc.

If you're talking about the Penn Yan or Air Plains 172 mods, they come with revised fuel burn and basic cruise speed data, but little else... I believe the idea is that the modified airplane meets or exceeds book performance numbers... I was always surprised at how little information it came with.

From AC 21-40A Guide for Obtaining a Supplemental Type Certificate
2-32. Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement.
a. In general, an FAA-approved aircraft flight manual supplement (AFMS) is required by 14 CFR §§ 21.5, 23.1581, 25.1581, 27.1581, 29.1581, and 31.81 if your modification results in a change to aircraft limitations, procedures, or performance. This applies whether or not the unmodified aircraft was type-certificated with an FAA-approved aircraft flight manual. If the unmodified aircraft was type-certificated without an FAA-approved aircraft flight manual, an FAA-approved supplemental aircraft flight manual will meet the requirements of 14 CFR §§ 21.5, 23.1581, 25.1581, 27.1581, and 29.1581.
