717 and MD80/90 Commonality?

Do the 717 and the MD80/90 share a type rating? Just wondering...the 717 is my favorite plane next to the L1011.

Believe it or not, but the MD80/MD90/717 all share the DC9 type rating.

If you want, I can mail you a 717 cockpit poster?

I'm not doubting you but rather I find it a bit odd that a quasi-glass cockpit (MD90) and a the old cockpit of the DC9 can share the same type rating. I would imagine for this reason that the 717 and the DC9 probably have very little in common as the 717 is all glass.

Yep, believe it or not, still a DC9 type rating, you are correct though, the DC9 & the 717 are a little different, cockpit wise. But the flight characteristics are the same, or pretty close.

I am mailing three posters out today, for free, but after that, the poster cost $3, I will find out how much the mailing cost. If anybody lives in the So California area, swing by & pick up the poster, located near the Long Beach Airport.
