| Hot Start 1.Condition Lever--CUT OFF 2.Ign/Start Switch--STARTER ONLY 3.ITT Below 300C--IGN/START SWITCH OFF NO LIGHT START 1.Condition Lever--CUT OFF 2.Ign/Start Switch--OFF Wait 60 sec for fuel to drain and starter cooling, then conduct engine clearing procedures ENGINE CLEARING PROCEDURES 1.Condition Lever--CUT OFF 2.Generator Switch--OFF 3.Ign/Start Switch--STARTER ONLY (15 SEC MIN) 4.Ign/Start Switch--OFF Hung Start Same as the Hot, and followed by the clearing because the secondary injectors didn't kick in, but there is fuel and you did get a light off. |

| I know of a group of maint. students (and instructor in the left seat) that were attempting to start #1 on a 727..... as they sat there trying to figure out why it wouldn't light, the student sitting in the FE seat figured out the problem and decided to fix it all on his own -- by pushing the ignitor circuit breakers back in. The "kaboom" could be heard all the way across campus.

| It was an unairworthy airframe and engine anyway so it didn't really matter but from what I've been told, the flame was quite impressive.

| We had some maintenance students do that to our schools saberliner a few years back. I wasn't there to witness it but I guess it shot a 10 foot flame out the back of the engine followed by a bunch of turbine blades.... Ouch. Some guys made it their senior project to slap a spare engine on the airplane. |
