Default The second “R” in Arrow

To fly into Canada, is it the plane and/or pilot that need the radio operating permit? For example we have an FCC Radio License for our aircraft fleet. Would that meet the requirement or does the pilot need a radio operating permit?

Also, if which ever you need, do you need that to fly over Canada without stopping in Canada?

If you are an AOPA member then check out the international flying section.

the second r is for radio license but for US registered aircraft that is only if you are going to be flying outside of the us.

The pilot has to have an FCC restricted radiotelephone operators license and the airplane has to have an FCC license authorizing it to be used as a radiotelephone operating station when flying internationally. Both of these can be obtained directly from the FCC website: www.fcc.gov. The price for the pilot's license is $55, however, I do not know the price for the airplane's. Good luck to you!

you need a resricted radiotele for the pilot on the fcc website. you litterally type in your info, pay the bill, and print out you license that is valid for 10 years i believe. the small airports in mex and cana dont look for these things though... i bought one, i wish i would have donated the money to charity rather than give it to the government.
