Default RAIM and FDE

Does anyone know where I can find a reference that really gets into the nuts and bolts of how RAIM and FDE work? I'd also be curious about a reference for the the "dummies" out there.

I'm basically trying to put together a briefing about RAIM/FDE for a KLN 900 GPS system, but I'm getting no love from the owner's manual. I'd like something that starts out easy, but then goes into as much detail as possible.

Thanks.

I'd go to the garmin site and download the 430 manual. I think there is a section that breifly touches on it. Then, you might want to search for a GPS RAIM related advisory circular at faa.gov

There is enough there to boggle your mind.

I've had my eye on this for a while, but haven't read it yet:
