Lets say I dont have my high performance endorsement, and Im rated for single engine land. I go up in a C182 with an endorsed pilot, but I am the sole manipulator. Can I log (not act) that flight as PIC?

what he said...if it is single engine land and you have a single engine land rating you are good. that includes anything up to 12,500 lbs turbine or not turbine (not jet) You can fly a Cessna Caravan on floats providing you land on a runway and not water and be PIC.

Also yes; you just can't log it as PIC since you cannot ACT as PIC.

Ok, thats where Im slightly confused, 61.31(f) says that no person may Act as PIC unless they have the endorsement. Lets say Pilot A has the endorsement Pilot B does NOT have the endorsement they both go on a flight, and pilot B is the sole manipulator... Your saying that Pilot A has to ACT as PIC, but pilot B can log it as PIC? So Pilot A has to be the one ACTing as PIC but he cannot log PIC because he is not the sole manipulator... right? otherwise they would both be logging PIC

61.31 is an "acting reg." Unless something in 61.51 (the "logging reg") says that you need to figure out is "acting" as PIC (an example is the part that talks about operations requiring more than one pilot), then looking at any acting reg is a mistake. Quote:

| True. But I don't think the OP was asking about acting as a safety pilot.

. So, over 12,500 - that requires the "type" rating for PIC?

§ 61.31 (a) Type ratings required. A person who acts as a pilot in command of any of the following aircraft must hold a type rating for that aircraft: (1) Large aircraft (except lighter-than-air). ============================== Look in Part 1 for the definition of "large aircraft."

I got another question, Lets say I have multi-engine rating and I go with a buddy who has a multi-engine aircraft but no MEI, Can we both log the time as PIC? The aircraft is a Piper Seneca!

If one puts on a hood and the other elects to ACT as the PIC while the sole manipulater flies, then both can log PIC. This is the same thing that has already been said. Doesn't matter if it single-engine, multi-engine, helicopter, whatever.
