Default G1000 cross link problem-

Hi-
I came across a little problem with the glass 172 the other day. Started up and took off. At cruise, set up "direct" to a fix. Showed up on the map display as a pink line but not from the airplane's position about 1 cm in front of it. The CDI on the PFD didn't show it at all (it was slaved to GPS). Then the map display blanked out the line altogether. Reloaded it, and same problem occured-- almost like the PFD and the MFD weren't talking to eachother.
Anyone come across this problem before? I am thinking I didn't load up properly, or didnt' wait for the AHARS to come online before switching on the avionics.
thanks for any help you can lend.
