| Looking at the SoCal Jepp low enroute chart, you notice the grid MORA in one section is somthing like 1300'. In another it was 10,000'. The catch is they're both over the ocean. So the question is why would a grid MORA over the ocean (just beyond the coast line) be 10,000'? My guess would be a military area or some potential hazard like a firing area. Your thoughts?

| Well, I pulled out my Low Enroute, and I see a Grid MORA showing 106, but if you look carefully, most of that sector is on land, and does contain some mounainous areas. Only about 25% of it covers the water. |
