| Junior Member | Hey guys, Im not sure if this is the right forum or not, but I just recently got my CFI ticket and trying to get a job at one of the local flight schools here, a couple of them wanted my Resume, but me, having never done this before, am not quite sure what info employers are wanting to see in a resume, I tried searching for some sample ones, but to no avail, would any of you all have one that I could take a look at to see just to give me a clue what to expect? or any pointers? Here is what I came up with so far. www.atnipfamily.com/resume.htm How can I improve on this? Thanks for all your help btw, Im addicted to JC PS: Would I put my 50 hours of sim time on my resume or is that kindve wacko? |

| I assume you will be formatting it nicely in Microsoft Word, and not sending it like the web page shows? You normally leave references off a resume and only provide them when required. You might put "Available upon request." Typically, you have an "Objective" at the top of the resume. Under your employment, help to describe what you did. If you had any noteworthy accomplishments, write about them. Any high school awards, academic or otherwise? Anything that can indicate that you're a special person (in a good way) will help. A resume is a sales brochure.

| I used the MS Word resume wizard, and put in premade sections, like Work Experience, Education, and it allowed me to make a custom one for Flight Time. Did you get your Commercial part 141? If not, how did you get it without 250 hours? |

| Old Skool | Fly, You might want to delete your personal info up top, since you linked on a public web site. If necessary, just chop that off this web page, then set up a new web page to give to people, if you want it on the web. As far as recommendations, go to the main page here and look on the left. There's a menu bar over there with "tools", and one of them is sample resumes. Use that formatting and you'll be in a better position. www.jetcareers.com |

| Junior Member | oh, btw Mojo, I did it all Part 61, but I had 50 hours of sim time, which can go toward the commercial ticket, Which leads to this question.... Should I put Sim time on my Resume also? or just add it to Total time? or leave it as it is? Also one more question lol, My dad thinks I should put that I'm a Banjo player in a Traveling band in my Resume, and that were also were the "CGMA 2002 International Bluegrass Gospel band of the Year". I don't think that's something to put on a resume lol. I mean a Banjo player?... that might do more harm lol What do you guys think? |

| Unless your interviewer also happens to be a Banjo player, I would say that it is unlikely to help. A prospective employer might see the "traveling band" thing and think "oh, he might need to take a lot of time off from work". Just my 0.02.

| I'd put the "References available upon request" under its own heading at the bottom, with the title "References". Or you could leave it off, since they're likely to assume that you have references available upon request. ![]() Otherwise, looks much better.
