Default Discover Flights???

Do the initial Demo/Discovery flights fall under (PSFACES) as sightseeing with in 25nm or Student Instruction, if I am a CFI? In other words can you make a landing somewhere else or must you keep it non-stop.

And can someone point me to the FARs. I am searching all over and am drawing a blank today. Thanks.

(pardon the subject typo, it won't let me fix it)

It's just instruction - you can do anything you would do with a student.

So what's the difference? Who knows, it all has to just pass the smell test. If they use a discovery certificate etc. then it's not sightseeing, if they just walk in off the street and want to go flying, it's sightseeing.

Anyway - in 30 minutes how far can you go? I know the description of the discovery flight makes it seem like you'll do everything short of solo, but any FBO that's giving away discovery flights more then 0.5 on the Hobbs is getting killed. We lost money on every one - and you know what, we converted MAYBE one person. No it wasn't our lack of marketing, most Discovery flights are just looky-loos - no real intention of learning to fly, and most of them no money to do so anyway. Sorry - rant off.

If your place is a flight school advertising as such, its dual instruction. Go ahead and land at another local airport so you can log it as X-C.
