Default Solo definition for Private pilot req'ts

If a female student is pregnant, must she wait until the child is born in order to meet her solo hours requirements?

I'd sign off the embryo too, just to be safe.

Uhh... its a new FAA proposed change... embryos can solo at 16 weeks. Only when accompanied by a parent, though.

(Man this thread is dumb...)

You know, the question might not be a stupid as it sounds. We're looking at it as a Part 61 question, but turn it around and make it a medical question - Is there a certain point during pregnancy that a woman is disqualified from exercising her third class medical certificate privileges? - and it doesn't sound quite as silly, although it does belong in "Ask a Flight Surgeon"

You're right... it is medical. If a pregnant woman isn't restricted from flying at some point in her pregnancy, she could inadvertantly bust the FARs during a solo flight by accidentally giving birth. Seeing how she wouldn't be allowed to carry passengers...

(sorry... had to keep it going!)

Take it step further and ask is there a certain time of the month a woman is disqualified for her "mood."

Interesting thing about this on a related issue that I'm reminded of from my hometown. Driving in High Occupancy Vehicle, or HOV, lanes in Arizona.

FAA-wise.....good for the goose/good for the gander?
