| Senior Member | Can anyone give me a PIREP on the Diamond DA40-180 Star? There are two that are at my disposal, and was wondering how it flies compared to a Cessna or Piper. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Well...........You push the power forward and like magic, the plane picks up speed and lifts off. Pretty simple. Amazingly, the Pipers and Cessnas do the same. ![]()

If you had the option of flying a Cessna 172M, Piper PA28-151, or the Diamond Star, what would you choose. 172= $90 PA28= $85 DA40= $98 Not looking for advice on which one to fly, just curious if there are any Diamond fans that could tell me how they liked the Star, or switchced back to the usual suspects. Just asking for a quick report from someone in the know. Jep, I am willing to bet that you are 100% correct. I like your KISS approach. I guess I could just go fly the damn thing, but that would make too much sense.. | |

| Old Skool | Also does the DA40 have glass?? I am trying to get a copy of an article written about the DA40 a few years ago, I think it was before they had glass. Think it was in Private Pilot or Plane&Pilot

| Old Skool | It is a fun plane to fly, but I wouldnt want to make a long XC in it. Responsive with the stick, and great view out the large canopy. Does need better ventilation.

| the DA-40 is too hot when you're under the canopy. i'd take the PA-28, assuming all are in equal states of repair.

| Senior Member | The Da-40 is nice due to the speed and responsiveness of the aircraft, but I would have to agree a long xc becomes very uncomfortable because even being only 6'1" my knees are almost in the panel and the seats become very uncomfortable |
