| Senior Member | Stupid question. Does anyone know why on long runways the middle is usually at a slightly lower elevation than the ends? http://www.airliners.net/open.file?i...FP&photo_nr=25

| In the photo you provide it appears to dip a bit at around a thousand feet down then go back up again. They don't dip in the middle necessarily, but usually aren't perfectly flat either, hard to do that over 2 miles or more. They bend a bit with the terrain they're laid on. |
