Default Diamond

After starting at a new school, I flew a new Diamond DA-20 tonight. I thought it's stability was decent and the canopy is definately a cool change. It had dual Garmin G430's in it which I had never experienced before. I'm really glad I got my private and instrument in 60's and 70's aircraft because this technology is soo cool to me. Wondering if anyone else has much experience in the Diamond, what do you think?

I've got a couple hundred hours in the DA20. It's 'aight', but I'll take A '79 172N over it any day . . .

It's a fun little plane to fly around in. I do like the center stick a lot in that plane. Not sure I would want do a cross country of any length in one as the seats get real hard, real fast. Give me the nice cushy lazy boy seats in our FBO's Warriors anyday!!

I've given some dual in both the -20 and -40. A fun airplane. I dont really enjoy sittin in it though. I like to sit forward, especially when acting as a CFI-I, where I need to really see out.

If you are used to Cessna series AC, you dont wanna come in high or hot in this make and expect a lot when you drop the (pardon the expression) "flaps".

Well, I thought I had alot of fun flying the DA-20 until I finally got into the M20S this evening. The things a bullet. With regards to taking the '79 Cessna over the Diamond, I find it hard to disagree. Since I did my private and instrument training in a '78 150 and '76 172, I think I'll always be a 'Cessna guy' at heart.

I enjoy flying the DA20. Nice fun little aircraft to fly. I did a Private and Commercial in this aircraft. If you want to enjoy the canopy view have your instructor demonstrate Spin to you in this aircraft (if allowed) you will love the view. I had a first spin while training for my CFI rating in the DA20 before going to ATP.
