| I occasionally come across some aircraft manuals or checklists which list V speeds in KCAS. Since, as far as I know, CAS can't be read off the airspeed indicator, but is usually listed in the POH in a table with equivalent IAS, why would a manual or checklist show something a speed in CAS rather than IAS? |

| Old Skool | Only thing I can think of is that it saves you a step in coverting to TAS. |

| Probably because they have the nerd engineers write the POH. |

[/ QUOTE ] Older aircraft (pre 1975 I think) showed airspeeds in CAS on the airspeed indicator (usually in MPH). I was reviewing the Instrument oral exam guide (the little red book) and came across this little tidbit. |
