|  XC NYC AREA Im planning a VFR XC to the NYC area [C-172 RG] I made the same trip once ,some years ago ,before 9/11 including the tour over the Hudson before landing @ TEB Im wondering if someone that has recently flown in that area can update me on the procedures. More or less this is what i remember from the previous trip: Aproaching from the NW called NY app. few miles southeast of the HUO @ 5500 starting descent to clear the Bravo [App confirm position relative to White Plains not HUO] Crossed Tappan Zee AT 1500 by Alpine Twr at 1000 Contacted LGA Twr [down to Verrazano turning back up landing TEB]Radar serv terminated change to river comon freq. LOTS OF HELI AND FIX WING TRAFFIC [lots of pics taken by companion [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]i was to busy] Flew over the Statue at 1000 [can you do that now? [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]] Wide turn back up the river amazing view of the WTC Call TEB twr few miles south of the GW bridge,clear dw Rw 01,ok landing [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Few hrs in Manhatan and back to TEB for a beautiful night departure and the river tour again!!! Airfile FP ,nice music on the ADF and a great night xc [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Updated info much apreciated,tnx a lot |

| Re: XC NYC AREA For the most part everything is the same. What has bit a lot of people in the butt though is Yankee Stadium. If there is a game ther it is a 3 mile 3,000 TFR....and it is right on the river. Find out if they are playing at home before you go. Other than that everything else sounds the same. |

| Re: XC NYC AREA As others have said, just ask about TFRs and especially the Yankees home game one. That blocks part of the river when it's active. I can't wait to do this flight again; I'm going to try in November. Take some pictures for us in the meantime! |
