| I'm thinking about going up to skymates and doing their commercial and multi addon. Im at 260 hrs and will have all the X-countrys done when i arrive. All I will need to do is learn the comm manuevers and learn the nole... I want to do this as quick as possible, as in full time all day (like an accelerated course). Has anyone done this themselves? and how qiuck could someone get through it? I also will have the written done too! I would like to do this in 6-7 days. Since i will have to take off work, travel up there and stay in a hotel while there! Thanks for any help/info you can offer |

| 6-7 days might be cutting it a little short considering you've gotta learn complex, multi, and a few new manuevers, and possibly 2 checkrides. I would highly suggest doing the whole deal (SE and ME) in one day if you're trying to save time. There are a couple of examiners who will do it down there--you fly the Seminole and the 172 and do everything in one day, coming out with the SE Comm and the Multi Comm. Budget at least 7-8 hours (4 days) for the multi (if you've never flown a complex), and 7-8 hours (4 days) for the comm manuevers in the single. I'd say 10 days minimum, even if you've got excellent flying skills and a pre-scheduled checkride. And the #1 thing with Skymates is to schedule your examiner way way in advance. If you need a fall-back, fly their plane up to DTO to see Kendall Haley. He's good and easier to get an appt. with compared to the examiners who come into GKY. Also, Quality Inn has a good deal if you tell em you're with Skymates. Second-best but kinda ghetto is InnTown Suites, who will do weekly $179. There are some sketchy people there, but the room is decent and has a kitchennte and a walmart across the street. Good Luck |

| Make sure your checkride is booked well in advance of your arrival. Our DPEs have about a 2 week waiting period. |

| Senior Member | You shouldn't have much of a problem getting it done in 6-7 days if you are familiar with the mooney and its systems... Chandelles could be a PPL maneuver if you ask me... 8's can be tricky, but as long as you pick perfect 45-90-135 points and do the maneuver totally by outside reference, you should be nailing them in a couple hours.... 8's on pylons can be tricky, especially on a windy day, but as long as you are aware of your position to the wind and anticipate when your GS increases/decreases, thus raising or lowering your pivotal altitude, you will be fine..... Heres a little tip when picking your points...ANYTHING can be a point. I promise you that when you find a nice point, if you fly for 10 more seconds, you will find another "nice" point. Just start flying your 45 dw entry and find a point from that heading...No point to have to re-position yourself... Finally you have power off 180's....Really not that hard of a maneuver...As soon as you understand how quickly the mooney drops when power is idle, you just have to compensate for wind and you should be nailing them very soon. The commercial checkride really is not difficult. |

| Old Skool | I had a student more or less in the same situation. He was all set to go with his CSEL, then the Mooney broke. Then the Bonanza broke. So he called us. I had him ready to go on the CSEL in two days, and the ME checkride was three days later. Now, this was in 2004, so it looks like things are a bit different. I could pretty much call up one of the DPEs and have a checkride that same week. Looks like they've gottan a bit busier since then.....

| Old Skool | Well, you also have to keep in mind that you'll have no control over the wx or aircraft mx, too. Keep that in mind. I've seen a lot of guys burned b/c they only allotted 3 days and the Arrow was down for 100 hour. Normally not a problem unless they find something.
