I am going out to Skymates next month for my Multi, CFI-I, and MEI. Afterwards I would like to stay on as an instructor. Luca told me that is very possible, apparently they are needing instructors bad right now. Anyways, I was wondering what percentage of students are Multi as opposed to Single engine students? How much multi time on average can an instructor expect to attain per month? And finally, do instructors make their own schedules and determine their availability? Or are they required to work certain days/times? Disregarding of course the obligatory desk duty. Thanks for the info! Hope to see you guys around GKY soon. |

All of the Indian students are going for Private - Commercial multi. I don't have my MEI, but I would guess the other guys are getting it pretty fast. This doesn't include Americans who come in just to get add-ons and such. We are also getting VA approved soon, so this should bring in a lot of guys that are full time, going through MEI. I would guess with the busy season coming around, you could probably get 10-20 hours a month of ME time, probably more. We make our own schedules and aren't required to work the desk. If you elect to instruct Indians, they are here full time, so you should plan to work from around 9am to around 6-7pm. Most guys take Sunday off. |

You are not required to work the desk?? Mojo, I think I saw you up there last week when I went to get some paperwork. You were talking to 2 Indian guys about weather minimums for when they solo...and you were very clear: Always check with me first!! I think that was you. Anyways, that is a good amount of Multi Time! I can't wait to get out there! |

Yeah, I had just soloed the guy, and put a restriction on his solo endorsement that he needs my approval first, before going on any solo flight.

lol. How much TT do you have? If it is relatively low, I would get the CFII as well.

Right now I have about 190 TT but I still have about 10 flights to go for my Commercial. So by the time I get to Skymates I will have roughly 220. Yeah, I plan on getting all my instructor ratings including the "double" I and MEI and be instructing no later than mid June. |

I misread your first post, where you clearly posted that you were getting your CFII. See ya next month.

You don't have to work the desk?!?!? Damn, you guys have it good now. And when I left they weren't hiring guys without an MEI, so things must be picking up pretty good now.Back in the day when I started at Skymates as an instructor (okay, so it was like a year and half ago), the ME was based on seniority. This was before the visa stuff was approved. By my second week, I had ME guys b/c everyone else was booked up. I left with around 250ME in less than 7 months of instructing.

You were also a freak of nature there. NOBODY hit 150 hours in a month, though we kept wondering how in the #### you did it... |

Yeah, my buddy Bryan was hired a couple months back and he doesn't have his MEI yet. Sounds like Skymates is rocketing upwards. I just can't wait to get out there and start instructing. Plus I need to try out this pizza joint with the beers I hear so much about |

| Old Skool | No life, dude. No life. That and I got lucky with a lot of students that really wanted to fly. I think I had two 141 guys, Jim getting his IR in the Seminole, Brett getting his CSEL/CMEL and Henry getting his CSEL/CMEL all in the same month. Toss in a few flights with Travis' students, a multi-add on here and there, and one guy that came in to get his IR over the weekend, and I didn't even have time to go to NJC that year!

Yeah thin slowed down a lot after you left, like A LOT. Like I only put 400 hours in my logbook over 9 months.

How much does Skymates pay a CFI? You can PM me if you don't want this info out in the public.

| Old Skool | I THINK it's $17 an hour now. It was $16 when I started, and it went up a dollar. Then again, it might have been $15 when I started and it's up to $16 now. It's all a blur. The good news is that you get paid for ground as well as flight instruction.

| Old Skool | I think that was Travis. Speaking of you heard how he's doing?

| Old Skool | Nah, that was Eager. I need to call Travis. I talked to him a couple of months ago while I was in DTW, and he was still flying the Falcon for that company in AUS.
