Default Off the e-mail wire from the FAA today...

New Arlington Tower (GKY)
Notice Number: NOTC0477

Arlington Municipal Airport will mark a milestone next month with the opening of the general aviation field's fully staffed control tower. Beginning Aug. 14, air traffic controllers are expected to staff the tower from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The number for the tower is: 817-459-5562.
The frequencies for the new facility are as follows:
  • Tower - 128.62,
  • Ground - 121.75,
  • ASOS/AWOS - 127.375

what are you talking about? the tower was up last summer, this april, june, and it came up in july also. where have you been?

It's happening. The tower manager stopped in this morning to say hi and give us the lowdown. FINALLY! Dave got interviewed about it by the local paper and as he was quoted, it will be "way more safer".

Only reason i posted this is that we never got an e-mail about galveston tower when it went "live." The tower was up almost 4 months before they started communicating, so I assume the situation was the same up at GKY. Even now we still have to monitor unicom because some pilots still don't know. Can't wait to come up there for a couple of days and fly with skymates.
