It opened 5 months ago

(I called the airport managers office, they said sometime in June. I don't believe it)

Whaaaat?!?! I know it's been a while since I've been there, but I didn't expect this! So I guess no more "accidental" departure procedures on IFR flight plans that takes the pilot over DFW.

Hmmm unless my instructor and I are breakin da law, the tower is not yet open. It's a nice tall tower......no word on when it will open. Sure would be nice though, every now and then pilots who are very hard to understand mumble their intentions. This sends us scrambling to look around us to find them.

(The tower isn't really open, but the joke is that it opened 5 months ago, which was when it was scheduled to open. This is also known as running on government time)

I'll believe when the airspace violations start rolling in. We were gonna start a pool on how many violations there were going to be in the first week. In June, they'll tell you it will be open in October.

Close. Controllers at the future Castle tower will use shoulder-mounted missiles on Symphonies that are still talking on 123.0 instead of 123.07. I'll carry the missiles up to them without being told.

The Tower can NOT open till September 28th.
That is when the new sectional comes out.

It will be manned in late June, but only a training basis. They will act as unicom till September.

Oh no. What'll the unicom people do? They might have to go drink their coffee somewhere else!

I'll be glad to never hear "Can I get an airport advisory?" again. I told one guy (after the Unicom people left) "Advise you listen to ASOS."

LOL...You mean Symphonies, Katanas, and a certain Arrow. And especially when they cut off the Boeing 737 or King Air on final.

I think I was with you on that flight.

I saw a brochure over at the terminal building for Arlington Airport. It was talking about how the airport is expanding and a is scheduled to have a tower opening in 2004. That is government time at its finest.
