| Old Skool | Anybody? I was assigned CHO, after IOE and just wanted to get the low down on the housing situation there.

| CHO is a nice little college town. Charlottesville is home to the University of Virginia and Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's home). There's plenty of affordabe apartments and housing. Theres a mall, a Target and a Wally World. You're about a two hours drive west of Richmond and 3 1/2-4 hours from D.C. CHO is also a base for Piedmont, so if you're looking for a crash pad ask those guys. |

| CHO totally rocks. I'd love to get back there. Can't help you on the housing thing, though.

| Old Skool | CHO is a great town. The people are very friendly and there is a ton of history there as well. Its pretty central to everything else in Virginia and rarely has any traffic. Oh yeah, if your into college football they will force you to become a UVA fan ![]() . The housing is very affordable compared to the northern part of Virginia. The beach isnt too far away either. You'll love living there.

| Senior Member | Housing is AFFORDABLE but nit CHEAP. Beware when you look. My gf was based there for a year and did not find anything in CHO to be cheap...

| Junior Member | Actually Richmond is an hour or less, depending on where you're going to/coming from. I live in Richmond south of the river and worked on a project at CHO all summer, and it took me 1:20 door to door. We went to some apple orchard last weekend up there and it was a shade under an hour. Charlottesville is not a cheap place to live, which I find odd. The income distribution seems to be very polarized there. You can look into the surrounding areas, such as Waynesboro, Staunton, or even Harrisonburg. Richmond has spread so far west of the city that you could conceivably get a place in the West End and drive to the airport in 45 minutes with zero traffic on I-64. My project in CHO is over, but if you're ever up for a frosty one shoot me a PM. |

| CHO is a pretty good place to be based. I live in a place that includes all utilities and cable and it runs $454/month. Its about 25 mins. from the airport on the south side of town near 64. Hope you enjoy c'ville, i know i have thus far. |

| Old Skool | What duck said. Richmond is an option and not far. It is a bit cheaper than c,ville and is a great town. I lived there for 8 years before moving to Vegas. It isnt a bad drive to c'ville. Be sure to check out Sticky Rice in Cary Town . A good friend of mine is a real estate agent in RIC also so PM me if you want his info. Here is the craigslist stuff for RIC http://richmond.craigslist.org/apa/
