As far as drag, if it's composite it takes a TON of drag off the airplane with it being so much closer to laminar flow. Take the SR20 and Piper Arrow. The 20's got a few extra horsepower but a huge advantage in speed, climb, t/o and landing performance. The SR20's we had even beat the PA44's.
no they didn't but they were close. The fastest I ever saw the 20 was 150, we have quite a few seminoles that will get 166-170

Where are you pulling these numbers out of? Are these TAS?

I've flown LOTS of Seminoles (just looked it up out of curiosity and I have time in 49 Seminoles) and never even came close to seeing 170 kts. That is unless we are talking groundspeed with a good tailwind.

here is a really crappy old camera phone pic of a seminole pfd in straight/level flight. i will grab a pic if i fly tomorrow or monday of the TAS. most of the 'noles we have are new so that probably helps alot

So, after actually looking at the SJ-50, it looks like a neat little jet. Wouldn't want to buy one, but if somebody offered me a job, I wouldn't say no. And, no way in heck are you getting 7 people in there, unless your transporting a bunch of kids.
