As far as getting from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Your best bet is taking a shuttle from the central bus station in Tel Aviv. Or just take a bus. The ride should take around an hour. last time i tok the shuttle it cost around 7 USD. If you take the train you can count on an hour and a half and the train brings you into the Malha area of Jerusalem and from there you would need to take another bus or cab into the center of town. If you want to visit the old city of Jerusalem (western wall, dome of the rock, church of the sephlucer etc) take bus #20 from the central bus station. Best advice I can give you as far as paying for cabs... INSIST THAT THEY USE THE METER! They love throwing out prices and seeing if the unsuspecting tourist will bite
