Oh baby, Pengy has a new toy! Sadly, they are working on the 787 simulator, so, I am not allowed a peak

Is that in the sim bay in SEA? I couldn't get over how bright and airy the place was when you took that group of us through. If I recall there was an empty spot all the way on the left for the 787 to sit.

what are the chances of riding on any of those sims? Is it for pilot training only? No joy rides?

I'd non-rev to SEA to ride on that 717 one!

You can come to Wichita and see our Learjet 35 sim. It's powered by a Commodore 64 and features 2 state-of-the-art black and white television sets. Sim visual found on UHF channel 56. Audio is provided by the sim instructor making motorboat noises with his mouth and motion is simulated by FSI interns shaking the box from the outside.

did you notice if it had hydraulic stilts or the new electric stilts? The E170 FSI sims had one of each. I missed the "whoosh" of the hyd coming on motion.

When the 787 gets going it is going to be very busy, but, one way or the other, I will get a chance to hop in the beast....

I did not look, I just assumed that the simulators coming off the line were the electric based ones, will look

It would have been better if there were photos of the flightdeck...oh, well. I just can't wait to see the real thing up and flying already!

I had a chance last month to visit CAE in Montreal where they are building a number of 787 sims. No chance for any photography but an interesting cockpit. CAEs new sims are on electric legs, no more hydraulics.

What gets my attention on the -78 ( or will it be the -87?) is the electrical system. Two 250kVa gens on each engine plus two gens on the APU. A wad and a half of electrical power.

Well I'll be, Boeing is taking a cue from Embraer. The 145 has two gens on each engine and one on the APU.

I don't know about that but they are going to need a lot of juice... gear, flaps, steering, pressurization and air/conditioning all off the electrical system. Engines are no-bleed.

Early airplanes used electrics for moving stuff and then we shifted to hyd. I think I read the hyd system, although not used in the usual fashion, will be a 5000psi system like Concorde.
