| the only reason you should ever come to North Dakota. This is the KVLY TV tower rising 2063 feet AGL.(Google it) Had to waste some time before returning to Grand Forks to meet the 98 hour requirement by the end our CSEL training. The plane is Piper Arrow and I took the picture at altitude of 4500. ![]()

| Old Skool | Sorry, but wiki says: The Burj Dubai in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is currently the world's tallest man-made structure. As of 12 May 2008, the building, which is still under construction, stood at 636 m (2,087 ft). When completed, it is planned to rise over 800 m (2,625 ft). |

| Ok this picture was taken about 3 weeks ago so at the time it was the tallest. It still is the tallest structure in the United states, and it still is the tallest tower(not building) in the world. If you factor in elevation technically it is standing higher on the earth than the burj dubai. ![]()

| That's definitely a honkin' airplane killer. Here in central Iowa we have 4 clustered towers with 2 of them right at 2000' AGL. I don't know if this link will work or not but it's a piece of the local sectional. DSM APP gets really nervous when you fly anywhere near them under flight following. http://skyvector.com/#35-12-3-5453-2503 |

| Senior Member | I did a trip in an Aeronca Champ from Alabama to Delaware. We stayed around 800 feet for the trip, and as we neared Kinston, NC I looked out the window and saw a 2000' tall tower a few miles away. It was odd being less than halfway up a tower. Needless to say, I started looked at the charts more after that! Alex.

| I was just in & out of DSM today & heard A LOT of talk between approach & other aircraft regarding the towers. Now I understand why! |
